The Annual Educational Trip 2025, jointly organized by the OpenArc Campus staff and the Social & Adventure Club, was a remarkable blend of learning, exploration, and teamwork. This year\u2019s journey took students through some of Sri Lanka\u2019s most iconic and inspiring destinations \u2014 each place offering a unique experience that connected education with real-world discovery. The trip successfully balanced academic enrichment with outdoor adventure, reflecting OpenArc\u2019s holistic approach to learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The journey began with a visit to the New Giragama Tea Factory, a site deeply rooted in Sri Lanka\u2019s proud tea heritage. Students were warmly welcomed by the factory staff and taken on a guided tour of the tea manufacturing process, observing each stage from leaf plucking to rolling, fermentation, drying, and grading. They gained hands-on knowledge about the different varieties of Ceylon tea and the export standards that make Sri Lankan tea world-famous. This visit not only enhanced their understanding of industrial operations but also instilled pride in one of the nation\u2019s most recognized global industries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Following the factory visit, the group headed to the University of Peradeniya \u2014 one of Sri Lanka\u2019s most prestigious centers of higher education. The university\u2019s breathtaking setting, spread across 700 acres of lush greenery, provided the perfect atmosphere for an educational exploration. Students were introduced to the Seven Wonders of the University, which include the Engineering Faculty, the longest corridor in South Asia, and the iconic Harischandra Open-Air Theatre, affectionately known as \u201cWala.\u201d The guided tour offered insight into the university\u2019s unique architecture, history, and academic culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Engineering Faculty visit was particularly inspiring, as students were able to observe the infrastructure that supports one of the country\u2019s most respected engineering programs. The majestic corridors, colonial-style buildings, and peaceful surroundings reminded participants that education and environment together create an atmosphere of excellence. The experience also motivated students to pursue higher studies and contribute to Sri Lanka\u2019s future through innovation and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
